My new blog!
Hello everyone!
So my journey began in December of 2018, at the time I was in a very toxic & overall bad relationship which was affecting my mental state. I was one day randomly browsing Facebook when I came across a video by a guy called Brandon Farris trying to learn how to crochet & it really made me laugh a lot & I thought “that looks pretty simple to pick up & quite relaxing!” Little did I know it would take me a little bit of time to master but once I did I haven’t stopped since. I remember I was looking for the video on YouTube to show my mum as it had made me smile & I then came across his video of him attempting to learn how to knit, which is also another great video! I started gathering supplies & masses of yarn in early 2019 (I still do this even though I don’t reaaaally need more yarn but heyho a yarn lover can never have too much, right?) & began practicing. I got to a point where I almost gave up because I thought I can’t grasp either of the crafts, which left me a little disheartened but I decided not to give up & I am so glad I didn’t because a year on into my journey here I am! A few weeks short weeks into me officially starting to crochet properly, I met the man previously mentioned at the start of this blog post, that I didn’t know at that time would turn out to be not only my boyfriend, best friend but one of my biggest supporters in my journey, next to my mum of course! Knitting took me a little while longer to pick up, mainly because I didn’t want to overwhelm myself trying to learn both of the crafts at once. That journey officially started in November 2019. I am without a doubt hooked (pardon the pun) on both crafts! I began jewellery making September 2020 on a whim, I just got a starter kit from a local haberdashery & began by making earrings & stitch markers, then I branched out into beaded bracelets (which I absolutely adore making! I really enjoy making things for others & I also like to make things to donate to charity as well as the items I sell. As someone with long-term lifelong medical conditions its nice having something to do to keep my mind and hands busy. It distracts me from the pain at times. I definitely say to anyone who wants to give something a go be it something creative or say post a video on YouTube singing for example, go for it! Do what makes you happy & something you enjoy!
